After three heart pounding sets in finals of the French Open 2010, Rafael Nadal proves to everyone who truly is the king of clay in the Roland Garros after winning the Grand Slam title today. Rafael Nadal finally had his vengeance to Robin Soderling after he lost to Robin Soderling on last years French Open.

The Spaniard who regain the world number one rank won his fifth French Open title after beating Robin Soderling currently ranked number five in three straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

Rafael Nadal also won consecutive matches midway through the match and held every serve. Rafael Nadal is only the second person who have won at least five times in the French Open. Next year Rafael Nadal will have the chance to tie up with Bjorn Borg’s record having won six titles.

During the match, it was clearly seen that Robin Soderling had no answers on the superb performance of Rafael Nadal who regains the number one spot. As for Robin Soderling, he has been a runner up again in the French Open.

Robin Soderling, who defeated world number one Roger Federer in the previous round of the Roland Garros, has now reached the finals of the French Open. This is Robin Soderling’s second year in a row to reach the final round. Soderling owned Tomas Berdych during their match 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. The match lasted for 3½-hour.

Robin Soderling who is currently ranked number five hit 18 aces during his game against Tomas Berdych. He also overcame 63 unforced errors and swept the final four games. This is the only fifth five-set win in Robin Soderling’s career.

Robin Soderling will be waiting on who will he go up against. On Sunday he will either face Austrian Jurgen Melzer who defeated Novak Djokovic or the four time champion and former champion in the clay, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Even though it has been a year, it is still fresh in the memory of the people that king of clay Rafael Nadal lost to Robin Soderling during last years French Open.

Will it be a Grand Slam title for Robin Soderling? Or will there be someone who can stop and stand in his way?

Australian Samantha Stosur, who sent Serena Williams home yesterday and also four time former winner Justin Henin a while back, is now moving to the French Open 2010 finals. Samantha Stosur is going to the finals after beating Jelena Jankovic 6-1, 6-2 and if ever she wins on Saturday, she will become the first Australian woman in 30 years to capture a Grand Slam title.

Samantha Stosur will be facing against Italy’s Francesca Schiavone who also won with a first set tie break 7-3 against Elenea Dementieva the Russian fifth seeder who then quits due to a calf muscle injury.

Samantha Stosur’s win over Jelena Jankovic made Jankovic’s hopes of finally winning a Grand Slam title destroyed. This is the 27th attempt of Jelena Jankovic who is a former world number one. Looks like Samantha Stosur loves destroying other players dream of winning a Grand Slam title this year.

“I’ve been playing well and if I can keep this form going I think I have got a good shot.” according to Samantha Stosur. It really seems like Stosur is very determined to grab the Grand Slam title.

Venus Williams won her opening match at the French Open but later on bowed out of the singles tournament after losing at round 4 to Russia’s Nadia Petrova 6-4, 6-3.

Twelve days into the tournament and even if Venus is not anymore playing in the Women’s Singles, people are still talking about her. They are talking about her very revealing outfit when she first played in this year’s French Open.

Her outfit (see attached photo) caught everyone off-guarded. No one has ever worn something that revealing in to a big event like this one.

The black overlay material made it look like see-through but in fact it wasn’t.

Rafael Nadal will be facing fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in the French Open quarter finals on Wednesday. Rafael Nadal, currently ranked number two said that his perfect record of six wins in six meetings against Nicolas Almagro will not matter anymore when the two of them will be facing each other in the quarter finals.

During the French Open in the year 2008, Rafael Nadal only lost three games to Nicolas Almagro when the two of them met at the same stage.

King of clay Rafael Nadal will be celebrating his 24th birthday on Thursday. Nadal is aware that Nicolas Almagro can give him a birthday present that he will never forget when he will lose the match between the two of them.

“It’s going to be complicated; he’s going to be very aggressive. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll try and play my way and do my best so that he feels a bit uncomfortable.” according to Rafa.

Russian fifth seed Elena Dementieva is now moving on to the semi finals of the French Open after defeating fellow Russian Nadia Petrova 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. This is the second time for Elena Dementieva in the semi finals.

Russian Elena Dementieva was the losing finalist of the French Open on 2004. This time Elena Dementieva will play against Italian and currently ranked 17th Francesca Schiavone who made an upset against Caroline Wozniacki. The two women will battle it all out to grab a place on Saturday’s finals.

Nadia Petrova was the one who also made an upset against Venus Williams in the previous round took the first set 6-2, but all of this was due to the poor first set performance of Elena Dementieva who was inconsistent on serve and fail to use her ground strokes. Shortly after the first set, Elena Dementieva was able to concentrate at her game and never looked back leaving Nadia Petrova beaten and worn out.
