Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 auto race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Sunday, May 30, 2010 For the second time in four years, Dario Franchitti drove 199 nearly flawless laps, then got a huge break from a spectacular crash on the last lap to climb back on top to win the Indianapolis 500. Dario Franchitti got it in the form of a spectacular, airborne crash that brought out a yellow flag and allowed him to cross the line with a scant 1.6 gallons of fuel left but that That scant 1.6 gallons left him holding a quart of milk, a winner at the Brickyard for the second time in four years.

Dario Franchitti ‘s crew started pressing their driver to conserve fuel with about 15 laps left. He did as he was told, and after leading 154 of the first 199 laps at speeds of up to 224.287 mph, he slowed steadily at the end to 210 mph, then 209 and 206. Dario Franchitti verbalizes that he was concerned about running out of fuel in the Final laps of the race.

Mark Webber Wins Spanish Grand Prix for the Red Bull – On Barcelona Sunday Australian Mark Webber led from start to finish to win the Spanish Grand Prix. Spain’s Fernando Alonso in a Ferrari finished second with Webber’s teammate Sebastian Vettel completing the podium positions.

On second place Former World Champion Lewis Hamilton was in second place until the penultimate lap when the front tire on his McLaren punctured and he ploughed into the barrier. Hamilton was safe unhurt, but the 18 points that disappeared in an instant could cost him dear in the title race which is still being led by his teammate Jenson Button, who finished fifth at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Button spent a frustrating afternoon trying to get past Michael Schumacher, who put up an improved performance to claim fourth for Mercedes, the best result of his comeback season to date.Hamilton is in sixth place, 21 points behind his British compatriot. McLaren lead the constructors’ championship, but their advantage over Ferrari has been cut to three points, with Red Bull a further three points behind in a close battle. It was Webber’s first win since last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix and he was naturally delighted. The circuit now moves on to the playground of the rich, Monte Carlo, for the Monaco Grand Prix next weekend.
