Lucy, Paralyzed Dog conquers Mt. Washington

Here is a photograph of Lucy which is a paralyzed Dog that is able to climb and took Mt. Washington with its fury, Lucy was able to conquer the project with just six hours. Here is a statement from Lucy’s owner which is Courtney Dunning of Peterborough, New Hampshire. “I think many people underestimate handicapped pets and don’t realize just how much they can do given proper care and training,” This was an amazing feat seeing such handicapped pet showing a lot of spirit. The Dog’s Wheelchair is a walkin wheels for dog that lets disabled dogs do more than simply survive.

This is a very great showmanship of hope and determination. The six hour journey towards the summit of Mt. Washington is not that easy, There were several breaks of food and water. The canine companion of Lucy was topper who is a Chihuahua mix who was rescued from Puerto Rico.

Plum Island: Plum Island Animal Disease Center May Be Closed For Good

The Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) is a federal research facility in the United States. Plum Island Animal Disease Center is a facility that studies animal diseases and it is part of the DHS Directorate for Science and Technology. The picture above is an aerial view of the Plum Island, which sits off the northeast coast of Long Island in New York state.

Plum Island has its own fire department, power plant, and water treatment plant.While the Plum Island remained off-limits to most humans for the last 50 years. Theirs a lot of species in the island, many wild and rare flowers and these are the reason why conversation groups are advocating that the Plum Island Animal Disease Center should be close and because of the risk associated viruses, the public is not allowed in the island.

The official are still hopeful that the Plum Island will remain as is. And recently, the federal government invested about $50 million into upgrading the facilities.

“It’s unlikely they would invest that much money in something with a life expectancy of seven to 10 years,” Russell said.

“There’s a new day in Washington,” said Russell, who is hopeful the new administration will decide to keep the lab on Plum open. “There are changes all over Washington.”

However, Russell believes, whether the new lab will ever be built, the Plum Island’s future may be premature.

Long-Nosed Tree Frog “Pinocchio Frog” Discovered in Indonesia

A group of international researchers was in Foja Mountain, Indonesia camping when a frog came hopping from nowhere and landed on a bag of rice in their campsite as herpetologist Paul Oliver was able to grab it.

As Paul Oliver and his fellow researchers observed the little fellow the have found out that this frog belongs to an unknown type of long-nosed frog. Scientist called it “Pinnochio” named after the Walt Disney Puppet “Pinnochio”.

The little fellow is dubbed as “Pinnochio” because when the frog is calling it’s nose points upward and when it’s not that active it deflates.

The Foja Mountain in Indonesia is found in the Western Side of the island of New Guinea and is rarely visited by scientist. So finding unknown species in this island is never that impossible.

Korea’s Tiger Woods Track Tigers in South Korea

In the Demilitarized Zone in South Korea, an old Military men is camping out with a band of men dedicated to protect their loved ones. By love ones they mean wild animals. The soldiers camping out are not the soldiers from the nearby U.S. or South Korean armies. Rather, they are a rag tag team of conservationists. In command of them is Sun Nam “Tiger” Lim in Korea Lim means wood hence the name Tiger Woods.

Lim has been tracking tigers for 20 years and says his research shows the endangered cat lives in the Demilitarized Zone of South Korea. Hundreds of species of rare birds migrate here. The DMZ is also home to wild boar and Korean water deer. Some soldiers and farmers have even reported seeing black bears and leopards and this is what Tiger Woods of Korea has been protecting. But the thing he really wants to find right now are the tigers that were said to be prowling around the area. Decades of development and war have destroyed the population of Tigers. But Lim is convinced that about ten tigers prowl the South Korean side of the border.

They spent several hours scanning the mountains with a heat sensing camera, bouncing from one isolated spot to another in the back of a retired U.S. military ambulance converted by Lim into very own tiger mobile. but as of now no tigers were found.

Vannesa Carlton Singer Attacked by a Pit Bull – in Pennsylvania the Grammy-award winning singer Vanessa Carlton suffers five wounds on her leg after pit bull attack. The singer Vannesa Carlton was bitten by a Pit Bull near her father’s home. This happened while Vannesa Carlton bitten by a pit bull while jogging near the northeastern Pennsylvania home, when one of their neighbors dog bit her leg. Animal control officials have put the dog under a 10-day home quarantine. The state Department of Agriculture says a dog warden will examine the dog at the end of quarantine for signs of illness.

The 29-year-old Vannesa Carlton , is best known for her 2002 hit A Thousand Miles. Vannesa Carlton released her third album in 2007.

Idaho Scientist discovers a 3foot Long Spitting Earthworm – at the University of Idaho Scientists captured two specimens of the fabled giant Palouse earthworm, On March 27 Idaho Scientist located an adult and a juvenile specimen of the large, fragrant worms that have become near mythic creatures in the Palouse region of Washington and Idaho.

The earthworm Driloleirus Americanus is a large, pinkish-white earthworm that can grow as big as 3 feet long. The worms live in permanent burrows as deep as 15 feet and are said to spit at attackers. The Giant Palous Earthworm: Driloleirus Americanus is critically endangered and needs the protection of the Endangered Species Act to have any chance of survival. The giant Palouse earthworm is found only in eastern Washington and northern Idaho and would be a tragedy to lose.

Box Jellyfish worlds most venomous creature – A 10 year old girl who survived being stung by the Box Jellyfish the worlds most venomous creature. the name of the 10 year old girl is Rachael Shardlow, almost encountering death when swimming in a river with her brother in December. While swimming she suddenly lost consciousness and it was found out that she was stung by a Box Jellyfish. Rachael Shardlow spent six weeks recovering in hospital before returning home.

The accident was considered a miracle by the zoology professor Jamie Seymour verbalizing that Usually when you see people who have been stung by box jellyfish with that number of the tentacle contacts on their body, it’s usually in a morgue. The box jellyfish has long, trailing tentacles and is able to squeeze through even the smallest of nets as it is only the size of a fingernail. The venom is so overpoweringly painful that victims often go into shock and drown or die of heart failure before reaching the shore and more bad news is there is no effective anti-venom for its sting the venom attacks the heart, nervous system and skin, inducing shooting muscle pain, vomiting and a rapid rise in blood pressure.
