New Lexus Sports Car, the Lexus LFA Released

Lexus unveiled their new sports car, the Lexus LFA on the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

This new sports car will be released early next year. Lexus is planning to make 20 cars per month until they sell 500 units.

The new sports car cost nears the $400,000 mark. The business model for this car also changed, they’ve applied what Ferrari did to some, if not all of their sports cars. If you want to purchase one, you will have to send an application to Lexus. The company will review your application and they will decide if you can own their sports car.

Volcanic Ash in Iceland Disrupts Travel: Yet again, Iceland’s volcanic ash poses a threat for travellers. This volcanic ash is due to the continuing eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokul volcano. Officials said that travel in both Britain and Germany may be restricted due to the volcanic ash in the next few days. A test flight will be done Sunday in Germany to measure the ash concentration of the volcano. The decision on air space closures will be made after the test flight and the weather forecast this Sunday. According to the British Department of Transport, risks would be that parts of British airspace may be closed beginning this Sunday and would continue till Tuesday. They are basing in on the current weather conditions as well as the continuing eruption of Iceland’s volcano.

British Airways Crew Holding a 20day/4weeks Strike

Monday British Airways cabin crews announced that they will go on strike for 20 days between May 18 and June 9. The crew blamed the airline, saying its rejection of an offer over the weekend left cabin crew with no choice but to strike leading them are union’s joint heads, Derek Simpson and Tony Woodley. Its really noticeable how the strike ends a few days before the World Cup soccer tournament in South Africa on June 11, considered to be one of the biggest sporting events on the planet

These are the days when the crew will take the strike in to action May 18-22 inclusive, May 24-28 inclusive, May 30-June 3 inclusive and June 5-9 inclusive.

Hollywood Sign to be taken down, Hanks and Spielberg Trying to Save it

It has been reported several days ago that the very well-known attraction and tourist-destination, the Hollywood sign over Hollywood will be taken down.

An extension was granted to Hollywood Actor Tom Hanks and director Steven Spielberg because they promised to raise the $12 million dollars needed to purchase the 138 acres of land on which the nine iconic 45 ft-high letters have stood since the year 1923.

Owner of the land, Fox River Financial Services, based in Geneva, Illinois said that it will have no option but to sell the land to a property developer if the duo and conservationists can’t come up with the cash by April 30.

The non-profit nature conservation group, Trust for Public Lands which is headed by Will Rogers has said that they are nearing the $12 million mark and they are just short of about a million. News is up about the Screenings inside Airports whose flights will head to U.S. Security Procedures have now been upgraded to a whole new level. Travelers flying into the United States will be thoroughly screened; the subject will be screened based on whether they exhibit any of the characteristics of suspected terrorists. This order has been Issued and starts this month, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, has announced these changes, for the safety of U.S and its citizen.

This New layer of security measures was brought about after the attempted Christmas Day bombing of a Detroit-bound flight. Flights coming from 14 specific countries these countries are: Afghanistan, Algeria, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Anyone coming from these countries will be automatically faced in the extra screening before they fly to the U.S.

A senior administration official says that Additional screening will be conducted on passengers traveling into the country if they match the description of characteristics that have been passed on. The “current, intelligence-driven and threat-based characteristics” will be the one to judge the passenger if he/she will undergo the extra screening.One good example is this, when the U.S intelligence states the characteristics such as “a Nigerian man between the ages of 22 and 32”. Under the new policy all Nigerian men within that age range will undergo the extra screening for security measures before they can board the flight going to U.S.

Here are the Security measures that will be used to check the passengers with check-in and boarding process, including the use of explosives trace detection, advanced imaging technology, canine teams and pat-downs. This has been thoroughly announced so that people would not be intimidated on the enhanced security and screening measures that will be done on the airport.

To prevent the growing Terrorist attacks the senior U.S. security officials have been in the past 3 months meeting with the foreign countries and discuss how to enhance aviation security, many countries have adopted enhanced screening methods such as the use of body-scanning machines. The Room for a Cent: Hotel Rooms for One-Cent

This is not an April Fool’s day joke! I repeat, a hotel room is available for 1 cent for one night! This is because Red Roof Inn is having a special promotion billed “No Foolin’ 1-Cent Sale.”

This is not a joke, the company is really going to make rooms available for a single cent for 15 days. A spokesman for the company said, there are no hidden fees or other taxes. All bookings for the one-cent room will only be available online.

The reservations will be taken starting today and will continue up to the 13th day of April.

You can only book online for rooms available for the next two days.

To make it more simple, right now (April 1) you will be able to book rooms for April 1st or 2nd for one cent. Once those rooms sell out, you can try booking rooms again tomorrow for the next days. This will keep running until all available rooms are booked.
