Islamabad, Pakistan — Seven people were killed in the northwest part of Pakistan, 16 were also reported to be injured, most of them were soldiers and/or policemen.
The target of the attack was a security checkpoint in Mingora, the largest city in the Swat district of Pakistan. This was also the same place where the military launched an attack against the Taliban in 2009, a police officer said.
The suicide bombing occurred around 12:30 p.m. (2:30 a.m. ET). No one claimed responsibility for the attack but authorities suspect militants who have stepped up attack against police and security forces in recent months are behind this.
Saturday’s attack came a day after two other suicide bombers killed 43 people in the eastern city of Lahore.
