American dancer and also a professional choreographer, Sonya Tayeh was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Sonya is currently a guest judge and choreographer on the Fox television series “So You Think You Can Dance”.

Tayeh really loves dancing and it is her passion eventhough no one taught her how to execute such steps. “I want to be an ever-evolving, noticeable choreographer.” She says.  She is more passionate in dancing because of her inspirations ( Jiri Kylian, Frida Kahlo, Twila /Tharp and her family). Viewers of the show just love her and even inspired to dance. Inspiring people to follow her is one of her ultimate goals.

When teaching her dancers, she wants them to pay attention and listen to her detailed instructions. Putting emotions in dancing is what she wants to be emphasized.  Tayeh is popular of possessing  wild hair, wearing foolish clothes and dancing in a fast music which then suddenly stops and starts.
